How long do we have to wait for GP assignments?

Ehhhh... Linz was under-scored IMO.

The thing that is bothering me about the under-scoring at Linz is that it is very likely going to keep the Peals out of the JGPF - they're probably going to wind up with a silver & bronze like Fradji/Forneaux but FraForn will win the tiebreak because their total combined score is higher due to not being assigned to the outlier event that Linz was, IMO.

Wheee, congrats to Pidgaina/Koval.

And I think that’s the first time a British skater/team have won a segment on the JGP. :cheer2: Too bad they couldn’t get a medal, but Mouaden/Bigot also a very exciting young team and deserving here.

I hope BIS will send S/OP to a junior B or two. They have been a bit messy every time out this season and could do with some more competitive mileage; it would be a shame if between now and junior worlds they only have the British with a largely absent domestic field.

Honestly, as much as I like Pedersen/Chen in the RD, this POTO FD does nothing for me... And I have to wonder if it does anything for Yahli either since she hasn't skated it clean at either JGP.
I don't think it's the program. They are first after the RD with a good lead. They MUST win. That's where the mistakes come from.

I think the program is part of the problem. I haven't been impressed with it since I saw it at LPIDI. It's lackluster and vanilla as far as programs go. It feels like this season's "let's pull a program outta our a$$es at the last minute" the same way GreenP's Rhapsody in Magenta did last year from MIDA.

Jeffrey looked a little :wall: at the beginning but now everyone is all happy smiles with their wreaths and flags for the photos.

And well he should be since they just booked their ticket to the JGPF with the silver here.

Mathematically it isn't 100% yet - Zehnder/Sieber could knock them out with a win next week, but I think the only way Grimm/Savitskiy lose next week is if one of them gets sick like she did at Jr Worlds.

But, right now, they're sitting in 2nd in the standings and looking pretty good for the trip to Beijing.

Is there a link somewhere to standings?

Looks to me like the other Ukrainians, Germans and “Israelis” will get the last three spots but I’m lousy at reading these kinds of graphs.
Yes. I posted my analysis over in the JGP thread in GSD. It's not 100%, but those are the teams I'd bet on.

Both of them are from my native Odesa! 🥲
I was thinking about Odessa's current state (due to being bombed by Russia) just yesterday because I was listening to old recordings of Sviatoslav Richter (one of the greatest pianists of all time), who first learned to play as a child there. So many amazing musicians come from there and it's such a beautiful place. I really hope this great city can flourish again in peace soon and the damage to the historic parts isn't unfixable.

Anyway, very impressed by the baby French team's quick rise and by the judges' mental gymnastics.

Yeah, I don't generally care for what used to be called gorilla/flea pairings, but somehow this team seems to make it work. Some of their holds were quite clever.
It will be interesting because he's only 16 and is probably still growing and she is under 5' and has probably stopped growing...and she ages out well before he does.

Thank you - I didn't know that about Richter.

I’m excited for the baby Brits. They’ve improved their scores considerably in the last year, and they’ve still got several years left in Junior thanks to the new rules, so they have loads of time. Their technique is being rewarded and I’m sure their PCS will improve. Who knows how far they could go :)

Aside from the top teams — and I’m not feeling the dance yet from Pedersen/Chen — I really like the Italians. He needs a twizzles coach, because concentrating on them is the only time he breaks out of an impressively consistent and strong performance quality.
